In New Zealand – and I’m not making this up no matter how much it sounds like it – they’re proposing to tax farmers for their cows’ burps and farts and since it’s election season and I can’t watch a ballgame without being hammered by political ads that either claim the election of an opponent will mean the End of Civilization As We Know It or the election of the ad’s proposed candidate will mean the Dawning of the Age of Aquarius it seemed to me New Zealand might be taxing the wrong gas emissions.
BTW: When you hear what sounds like a made-up story like “farmers being taxed for cow burps” I would urge you to check it out before sharing the story with anybody else. And while the mainstream media certainly has its problems and misses important stories, if you work for a mainstream media news organization at least you can still get fired for making shit up which is an important distinction because there are some “news” organizations where making shit up gets you promoted.
All of which explains why I provide links that I realize very few of you will click on, but at least you know where I got my information and can read it and decide for yourselves if you want to trust it.
After OPEC cut oil production which they said was done to increases prices because you never know when you’re going to need to buy yet another solid-gold Maserati, Joe Biden threatened Saudi Arabia with “consequences” but wasn’t very specific because his list of “consequence” options is actually pretty limited and here’s an article all about that:
https://www.cnbc.com/2022/10/12/biden-threatens-consequences-for-saudi-arabia-after-opec-cut.html
It seemed to me the most likely consequence would be the U.S. dropping even more money on Saudi Arabia, but feel free to disagree because as I’ve said before, I’m the same guy who originally thought the internet was a fad, COVID was no worse than the regular-old flu and you couldn’t get elected president if you thought being famous allowed you to grab women by the vagina.
Although…
I was 100 percent right about analytics screwing up baseball and because they don’t really know how to measure defense, it’s undervalued and offense is overvalued and I’ve seen more bad fundamentals this season than any other season I can remember which doesn’t mean all that much because recently I also couldn’t remember where I put my sunglasses, which turned out to be on top of my head and when I took my ball cap off, I flipped my missing sunglasses on the ground in front of me and since I was walking forward at the time, managed to step on them in a slapstick move that would have made both Laurel and Hardy envious.
(Man, I really need to update my comedy references.)
Anyway…
If you watched anybody do that trick with the hat and sunglasses, I’m not sure you’d conclude that this was a perceptive person with opinions worth hearing. As always, your call.
Joe Biden also promised that he would get legislation passed to keep abortions legal and whenever Joe makes a promise to do something, I think:
“Before or after you raise the federal minimum wage?”
Which was one of his many campaign promises and I got the list I used in the above cartoon from the Poynter Institute’s PolitiFact website.
BTW:
If you look at the PolitiFact website you’ll see a whole bunch of Biden campaign promises listed as “stalled” and one of the many tricks politicians like to pull is to promise to build a wall or raise the minimum wage and then blame the opposition for their failure to keep their promise and then urge you to send them more money so they can keep up the good fight they actually have no intention of fighting.
Not that over four decades of observing politicians has made me cynical or anything.
https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/promises/biden-promise-tracker/?ruling=true
And if you’re currently asking who and/or what the hell the Poynter Institute is, here’s an article about who they are and who funds the PolitiFact website which is just the kind of information you should have before deciding to trust anybody.

And speaking of trusting people…
As you may have noticed today’s post is kinda Joe Biden-heavy and that’s because he’s been in the news a lot lately and providing top-of-the-line cartoon material and before you listen to anyone, you should ask yourself if they ever criticize the people on their side of the fence because everybody screws up and does dumb stuff and that definitely includes Liberals and Democrats.
So if CNN never says anything bad about a Democrat maybe you want to question their editorial bias and if FOX News says something bad about a Donald Trump maybe you should check the temperature because it’s fairly likely that Hell just froze over.
Semi-recently the Saturday Night Live news segment showed video of Joe Biden starting a speech by saying he had two words for the crowd and the two words were:
“Made in America.”
OK, so not great at math and I’m hoping Joe has people to help him with that.
And speaking of numbers Joe also said it was legitimate for voters to consider age and whether he was too old to be president in 2024 and as long as we are considering numbers I thought we might want to also consider Donald Trump’s I.Q.
In the above cartoon I question Trump’s intelligence (I mean he is the guy who wondered if injecting yourself with bleach would kill the COVID-19 virus) but I think you also have to question the intelligence of anyone who thinks what this country really needs is another four years of Donald Trump in the White House.
Hey, if the two choices are once again Donald Trump and Joe Biden I’ll vote for Joe which is not a huge endorsement because if the two choices were Donald Trump and a ham sandwich I’d be voting for the sandwich.
OK, once again that’s it for today and I’ve got to get to work on a Herschel Walker cartoon, but remember: if you hear something crazy it just might not be true unless it’s about cow farts which I’m guessing do way less damage to our environment than the average politician.
Those wacky kiwis. 😉 still and all, considering what the USA is like these days, a cow barn outside Queenstown on the South Island might be a preferable perch to over here. 😀
