Elizabeth Warren – who I used to kind of like, but now that she’s a politician seems to be a hot mess – has suggested changing the names of military bases that are named after Confederate war heroes.
Whatever her motivations – and they’re open to question – it’s probably a good idea to stop glorifying people who fought against this country and what it supposedly stands for.
Think how you’d feel if there were an Osama bin Laden Air Force Base.
Of course, President Trump opposed the renaming effort and tweeted that the bases are part of our country’s “History of Winning, Victory and Freedom” which kinda makes you wonder if Trump knows which side those guys were on.
The Confederates were:
Rebelling against this country…
Didn’t win or achieve victory…
And definitely weren’t for freedom unless you mean the freedom to own as many slaves as you could afford.
I get why people want to change the names of military bases and get rid of statues like the one glorifying Nathan Bedford Forrest – Confederate General and first Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan – and support that idea, but if you really want to rid this county of signs of racism, you might want to start with the guy in charge.
Like, “what America supposedly stands for”. Now look at what America truly is and does. Trump, Obama, Bush, Clinton.......
