How baseball has changed the game
A sport that prides itself on tradition throws tradition out the window...

So I was watching the NBA playoffs and then watched some NFL games and somewhere in there it struck me that although both leagues had to make changes to get back on the field, the games themselves had not changed all that much.
The height of a basketball hoop and length of a football field were still the same even though the circumstances surrounding those games had changed.
The same can’t be said of my favorite sport, baseball.
Baseball loves its traditions, but when it came to getting back on the field, baseball was willing to throw tradition out the window. They not only changed the circumstances around the game — no fans in the stands or media in the clubhouse — but baseball was also willing to change the game itself.
Using the Designated Hitter in both leagues, seven-inning doubleheaders, holding the World Series at a neutral site and starting a runner at second base during extra innings are on the list of changes between the white lines.

That is a really good article that capsulizes things nicely. I wonder if we'll ever see baseball the "old way" again. I think I may already know that answer.
