Here’s an old Henny Youngman joke: “Take my wife…please.”

Not a great joke, but an example of comedy that makes use of a missing element. At the beginning of the joke we think he means “take my wife” as an example; the “please” changes the meaning of the sentence. Now we get that he’s asking us to literally take his wife off his hands.
