Never heard of Jason Paul. Why would I? I don't actively use social media because a) I'm a shy person and have rarely felt the need to publicly bloviate an opinion on anything, except for commenting on the odd humorous, well-written news letter.
My b) reason is that I have a generally dim view of mainstream American culture and if I do come across something on social media I am almost always reminded that I am not wrong to have a generally dim view of mainstream American Culture.
I've always loved this from Bill Murray: "It's the American Dream to become rich and famous. Why not just get rich and see if that doesn't cover it?"
You'll like this story: Jason and I are watching a boxing match with his son and I tell his son to keep watching because one of the boxers was getting lazy with his left jab and not bringing it back soon enough, which meant at some point the other boxer was going to tag him with an overhand right.
Jason turned and looked at me like a Rottweiler that just saw a cat and said: "We need to spar."
I said: "No we don't."
I figured I knew just enough about boxing to piss Jason off and after that he'd beat the shit out of me. But he'd feel bad about it afterwards and visit me in the hospital and say "You shouldn't have thrown that overhand right." I could not see a sparring session ending well for me so decided to skip the experience even though it would make a great story.
