In a previous post I wrote about Elon Musk’s Department Of Government Efficiency cuts and compared them to the cost of Trump’s One Big Beautiful Bill and realized that comparison could also be made in a cartoon…so I made it.
I just had a Boulevard BB Quad a couple days ago. Boulevard's a great Brewery and readily available in (my part of) PA, so at least I've got that over (your buddy's part of) CA. I had their Whiskey Barrel Stout a while back - also an excellent beer - and I have several other of their barrel-aged varieties in the basement. (Can't drink too many ~12% abv beers in a short time frame, plus I've had a lot of Dr. appointments already and am trying - somewhat - to follow their recommendations.)
I'm in it for the buzz so Bourbon Barrel Quad's 12.+ alcohol content is greatly appreciated. Same with Whiskey Barrel Stout and my friend thought Boulevard Brewing's beer hall was outstanding.
Lucky for me he doesn't live here because I think we'd turn into regulars...and alcoholics.
I like big abvs too - I had two last night. Goose Island’s Big Juicy Beer Hug is 9.9%; I’m normally not into IPAs, but I’m starting to enjoy the “juicy” Imperials. Heavy Seas (Baltimore) Blackbeard’s Breakfast, a Barrel-aged Coffee Porter is 10% - this is one for a person who really, REALLY likes a coffee flavor to their beer. I’ll have to put Boulevard’s beer hall on my bucket list.
Having eaten there on numerous occasions I would be, too. My buddy the doctor took one bite of Garozzo's Chicken Spiedini and said it was the best Italian food he'd ever eaten and he's Italian and has traveled to Sicily.
And now your comment is making me hungry all over again.
Yeah, that was front & center on the menu. The original restaurant in Columbus Park is my favorite. Dare I say, feels like revisiting an old mob haunt.
That's the one I go to and all the Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin songs add to the atmosphere and just like you I expect to see Tony Soprano sitting at the next table.

There are much worse ways to spend an afternoon.
Garozzo’s is amazing, they catered our youngest daughters wedding & I think the guests were more excited about that than the actual wedding!
