40+ years the one lecture I remember most was given by you at KU. Intro to Political Science 101. You had the audience mesmerized. How good? Well I remember it. Where's my wallet?

Thanks. Clearly I miss writing about it and still turn out the occasional piece when something catches my attention. I'm glad to be missed.

Great read!

Is Jason Kendall big league manager material?

Jay, thanks. And yes, Jason is definitely managing material and I hope some team gives him that chance. The problem is Jason's known for being outspoken and blunt and these days too many teams want a yes man that will do what the analytics department tells him to. Jason is not totally anti-analytics; he thinks a lot of the numbers are helpful, but you still need a human deciding what will work best on any given night.

Frankly, I'd love to see Jason manage because you'd definitely see a team hustling its ass off and paying attention to fundamentals. If I was marketing a baseball team that sounds like a pretty good product to sell the public.
