If you liked this stuff about Beatles, my son Michael deserves a lot of the credit. He's the one who gave me the remixed CDs and he's the one that knows a lot about the history of guitar amplification and recording studios and he's the one who said people of his generation underestimate their influence and got me going down that path.
On the other hand; if you hated this stuff about the Beatles, let's all blame Michael.
Reaction has been good enough that I plan on writing more, but need to do a little more research and watch "A Hard Day's Night" one more time and this time, take notes.
Thanks for your encouraging comments and rest assured, more stuff is in the pipeline.
Thanks. It was fun for me to dig back into this stuff and realize I'd underestimated my all-time favorite band. And looking at the old performances reminded me how good those guys were.
Only AHN gets a whole column? I’m sure that with minimal effort, at least that which you claim, you could do a column on each album. That way you are set for the next several months. “Baseball and Beatles” is better than “Bombs and Batshit Crazy Politicians” any day in my book.
Great work, Lee. Shared them all over. Next, the history of bagpipes. Gotta be distracted from a World Series even Texans don’t care about and the Blackhawks still blow.
This 3-parter is fabulous, Lee. You achieved a not small task in presenting all (or most of) the innovations, both musical and cultural, that The Beatles and the Abbey Road staff brought to everybody. Collectively, these have been a wonderful and funny read. Extremely well done! Kudos to you AND Michael. Thanks (from a lifelong Beatles fan).
Great series. (Hope the one starting Friday in Texas will be as good.) By the way, if you get Turner Classic Movies, A Hard Day's Night will be telecast 8:00 a.m. (EDT) Sunday morning. (No conflicts with MLB or NFL.)
Three (more) great reads! Thanks Lee. When I see social media panning The Beatles it drives me nuts. Why I give a shit about what someone else thinks about a band from 60 years ago, I do not know. I generally assume they are either ignorant or just sayin' crap to rile me up.
I hadn’t been commenting because I spent so much time listening. I’m glad you’re writing more about the Beatles. There’s so much music I love, and the Beatles are a huge part of that.

Keep it coming. I’ve loved reading these 3 days. And watching all the included clips

More please!
Bring on more!
This was so much more than I expected -- so informative and so satisfying. Thank you! (More would be icing.)

Love this. Thanks to you and son Michael for doing the Beatles Series. I sure wouldn’t mind learning more if you got the material...
Take care, Mr. Judge!
