"Which reminds me of a story..." Your epitaph.

I sorely miss the days of the public good, the notion that the public owned the air and water and national lands. Hell, the notion that We the People have some intrinsic worth at all. I miss that.

And I miss the fix-it economy, the smell of a cobbler's shop, the din and dust on the tubes and bulbs of the TV repair man's counter.

Worse though, as you eulogize, is that education and expertise have lost all value for so many. It's important that you say these things out loud. This is how I want my news... with brains and heart. Thanks.

Thank you. When I sit and write or draw something I never know what it will mean to other people, so when someone says they like it as eloquently as you have, it has an impact and makes me want to continue. Thanks for the inspiration.

This piece is worth the price of a subscription alone. Great job. If you listen carefully, you might be able to hear me applauding up in Iowa.

Thanks, John. Not sure it will make a difference, but it's what I've been thinking about the last couple days.
