Sorry if I’m cranky, but I’m writing this on Thursday morning and last night I watched the Cardinals play the Dodgers in a Wild Card game that lasted nine innings, but took four hours and 15 minutes to play, which is completely ridiculous and one of the reasons fans are losing interest in what used to be a great sport.
There needs to be a balance between the time length of a baseball game and the fact (indeed the charm) that it is only major sport not governed by a clock. The NFL takes over three hours for a sixty minute game and nobody complains. If a couple of teams can show that "small" ball leads to winning, the worm will turn and a new approach will spread.
Eliminate the “play review” unless ask for by the umpires. In 1946 the umpires had final call, good or bad for both teams. The average “time out” let’s ask New York. Is 18 minutes per game.
If they cut the commercial breaks out, it wouldn’t be that bad. But then, what will the corporate overlords think of baseball without pause?
Jesus H. Christ on a skateboard!

Amen on every count!
