Since my answer to the where-do-you-get-your-news question is, “a baseball blogger with a lack of focus but a sharp eye and tongue,” I was thrilled to learn that puppy shooting is still seen as a negative.

We probably ought to wait until public opinion surveys are done because if "puppy shooting" turns out to be popular with the voting public, you know a bunch of politicians are going to buy shotguns.

It is possible to accurately predict the opinions of 300 million people with only few thousand samples because in statistics there is an inverse proportion as the numbers rise that doesn’t apply to smaller groups of samples (you can’t predict 100 people with 3 samples but you can sort-of predict 100,000 with 300), however, they have to effectively represent the larger group for it to work, and since it’s my understanding the sampling here is limited to people that will answer surveys on their land lines, these kinds of skewed results aren’t surprising.
