Barnard, but instead of taking credit, Fred attributed it to an ancient Japanese philosopher and then six years later called it an ancient Chinese proverb because he thought it gave the saying more credibility if it originated in Asia and the ease with which Fred lied his ass off indicates he picked the right profession.
Major League is a pretty good movie, greatly enhanced by the presence of Bob Uecker. [Off topic - started reading Throwback, and Jason's comment about the umpire leaning on him, causing him to miss blocking a pitch which allowed the tying run to score, causing extra innings, thus depriving Jason of a couple hours of drinking Bud Light - I think Jason should thank that umpire. Plus, if he's going to buy pitchers good whiskey if they win and have an inning with fewer than 10 pitches, then when the pitchers fail to do that, they ought to buy Jason a case of some decent beer. Even if he doesn't drink it, he could trade it for several cases of his preferred beverage. Just a thought from someone who had to endure crap beer through high school and college.]
