I'm heading to the beach this weekend, need a decent read - which series do you recommend - I was just looking online - "Prey", Flowers", "Kidd" or "Menace"?
I actually did research on this so apparently I care more than I should. Having said that, here goes: the Prey series featuring Lucas Davenport is Sandford's biggest, but my favorite is anything with Virgil Flowers, the marshal who doesn't like to carry a gun because they're heavy and pull his pants down and if you have a gun you might wind up shooting somebody and/or having them shoot back. Most of the characters appear in other series (Virgil or Kidd might show up in the Prey series), but I think the Flowers series tends to be more humorous just because of the main character and his outlook on life and policing. I like to read books in order because you can watch a character develop and change so I'd start with "Dark of the Moon" but you can't go wrong with anything in the Flowers series...and have fun at the beach.
Well said Lee. I don't know if you are smarter than me, but I find myself nodding yes after reading your "rant", especially the recommendation of John Sandford's Prey series. Now if you could convince the "unwashed" out there of the truths you are telling, the world would definitely be a better place.

Well, maybe we could start with getting them to read good books.
I've read all of the John Sandford books..
Time well spent.
